Technical Specifications

Nielsen Claritas obtains data from multiple sources and creates boundaries through proprietary processes which enable their use within Nielsen Claritas software platforms. In addition to boundaries, Nielsen Claritas creates geographic cross-references, which allow the user to easily determine relationships between various levels of census, industry, media, and postal geographies–e.g., which counties are included in a particular DMA.

Ultimately, Nielsen Claritas is linking data from hundreds of sources to these cartographic boundaries. The user is able to examine the demographic makeup of a particular area, as well as financial, insurance, retail and other consumer behaviors. In addition, PRIZM, P$YCLE, and ConneXions segment distributions are available at different geographic levels.
